SBU detained company executives in Odesa in connection with the sale of grain stolen from Russia

The Security Service of Ukraine detained two company executives in Odesa, who are suspected of helping Russia legalize almost 8 thousand tons of stolen Ukrainian grain.

This was reported by the SBU.

According to the investigation, in 2024, 7,857 tons of Ukrainian wheat were loaded onto the sanctioned ship “Alpha M” in the port of occupied Mariupol. After that, the grain was transported to the Russian port of Temryuk in the Krasnodar Territory, where documents were issued stating the cargo’s alleged Russian origin.

The wheat was then delivered to one of the Middle Eastern countries for sale through a local exporting company.

According to the SBU, in order to hide the true origin of the grain, the Russian side turned to the Odesa branch of a foreign company specializing in the certification of agricultural products.

Law enforcement officers detained the branch director and the head of the laboratory. The investigation believes that they knew about the Ukrainian origin of the wheat, but issued a fictitious laboratory report about its alleged Russian origin.

During the searches, the SBU seized computer equipment, phones, documentation and laboratory reports.

Both defendants were informed of suspicion of aiding the aggressor state, committed by a group of individuals in a prior conspiracy. The court chose for them a preventive measure in the form of detention.

If convicted, they face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.

Earlier, USM reported that the SBU announced the destruction of two FSB patrol ships in Kerch.
