The government has prioritized the export of Ukrainian oil through ports and railways

The Cabinet of Ministers has introduced a temporary priority for the transportation and export of Ukrainian vegetable oil by rail, through sea and river ports and the state border.

This is reported by Latifundist.

The decision applies to sunflower, soybean and rapeseed oil produced in Ukraine. The mechanism will operate as an experiment for the period of martial law, but not longer than two years.

Ukrzaliznytsia should prioritize transporting oil by route trains to sea and river ports, border stations and points of transshipment to other types of transport.

In ports, priority will be given to berths for vessels arriving to load oil in bulk for export. Such vessels will also receive priority when organizing passage through the Sulinsky Canal.

At the state border, transport with oil must undergo control in priority order. If technically possible, a separate corridor, track or lane may be allocated for such cargo. The government explains the decision by the risk of oil accumulation due to problems with export logistics, which could lead to the shutdown of processing plants and a reduction in raw material purchases.

The document also notes that a ton of oil provides an average of about $1,300 in foreign exchange earnings, while a ton of corn or wheat provides about $220. At the same time, the priority does not provide for changes in railway tariffs or port fees and does not allow interrupting cargo operations with other vessels that have already begun.

USM previously reported that the government is preparing a priority for oil exports.
