The Bulgarian Navy tried to sink the Khoryv – the wreckage of the ship partially sank to the bottom

The drift of the wreck of the stricken ship has stopped, which has reduced the risk of it being washed ashore.
The wreck of the cargo ship Khoryv has partially sunk near the Bulgarian Cape Shabla after the country’s Navy tried to sink it several times. This is reported by Maritime.bg.
The ship lies stern-first on the bottom between the village of Tyulenovo and Cape Shabla. Part of the bow remains above the water. At the same time, the drift of the wreck has stopped, which has reduced the risk of it being washed ashore.
Attempts to sink the wreck lasted all night. According to the Chief of Defense of Bulgaria, Admiral Emil Eftimov, the structure turned out to be strong, so the attempts were continued the next day.
The wreck is still marked with navigational warnings. The VTS service monitors traffic and informs merchant vessels passing nearby. Weather conditions in the area remain extremely difficult.
As a reminder, the Khoryv, flying the flag of the Comoros, was attacked by a kamikaze drone on October 23, approximately 13 nautical miles from Constanta, outside Romanian territorial waters. The vessel caught fire and sent a distress signal.
There were 13 people on board – ten Ukrainian citizens and three Azerbaijanis. Nine were rescued, one sailor died, and three are still missing.
After the attack, the vessel drifted for several days without a crew or navigation lights until it entered Bulgaria’s exclusive economic zone. Sofia then declared its readiness to act if the wreckage approached the coast.
