Bulk carrier fined for discharge of sewage in the port of Pivdennyi


The State Environmental Inspectorate identified the vessel that polluted the water area of ​​the port of Pivdennyi.

The violation was recorded by the State Environmental Inspectorate during the inspection of the internal waters of the territorial waters and the exclusive maritime economic zone of Ukraine.

The State Environmental Inspectorate and the Security Service examined the Iron Destiny bulk carrier, moored in the water area of ​​the port of Pivdennyi, took water samples after processing by the wastewater treatment system and established a 15-fold excess for the content of pollutants in water.

According to the results of laboratory research, it was found that the concentration of pollutants in seawater samples exceeded by three times, and iron – by 3.4 times.

The persons responsible for the vessel voluntarily paid compensation in the amount of $21 thousand (about UAH 560 thousand).
