It is better to develop grain exports from Ukraine by land, – the European Commissioner

“Now it is necessary to bet on the land route, because it is difficult to count on a stable restoration of the sea route. Russia may continue to play some kind of game, so a safe future cannot be built on this,” said European Commissioner for Agriculture Janusz Wojciechowski in a comment to RMF.FM.
According to him, the land corridors through Poland and Romania “passed the test”. Since March, Ukraine has exported more than 20 million tons of grain, most of which (12.5 million tons) is by land.
According to the European Commissioner, it is necessary to intensify the development of the land way of transporting agricultural products from Ukraine.
Wojciechovsky assured that the EU will support the development of the land corridor for the export of Ukrainian grain with its investments. He noted that, in addition to building storage facilities and bringing the track, which is wider in Ukraine, to common standards, Europe could also join the construction of a pipeline for the transportation of oil from Ukraine to Poland. The construction of the pipeline is an initiative of Kyiv, but the European Commission could find funds for financial support of the project.
