Great Britain handed over the Sea King helicopter to the Ukrainian Navy

The Ukrainian Naval Forces received a Sea King helicopter from Great Britain.
“Sea King from Great Britain has arrived in his new kingdom near the Black Sea in Ukraine! This is a powerful reinforcement for the Navy of Ukraine. Our cooperation will continue to develop,” Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said on Twitter.
Great Britain has already trained 10 Ukrainian crews for Sea King helicopters. The British Minister of Defense first announced the transfer of helicopters to Ukraine at the end of November 2022.
In total, three such helicopters will be delivered to Ukraine. They will be used for search and rescue missions.
It is unknown what type of helicopters were transferred to Ukraine. But until 2018, the Royal Navy had aircraft built by Westland Helicopters.
The Westland Sea King is a British licensed version of the American Sikorsky S-61 built by Westland Helicopters.
