UK imposes new sanctions against Russian ‘shadow fleet’

The UK has announced a new package of sanctions against Russia’s “shadow fleet” and financial infrastructure that helps Russia circumvent restrictions.

This was reported by Reuters with reference to the British Foreign Ministry.

The sanctions include companies related to Russian financial services, as well as vessels used to transport Russian oil and petroleum products.

The Ukrainian presidential commissioner for sanctions policy, Vladyslav Vlasyuk, said that the new British restrictions also cover the cryptocurrency sector, the “shadow fleet” and the Russian military-industrial complex.

The UK has already expanded sanctions against Russian maritime exports several times during 2026. London has also strengthened its capabilities to combat sanctioned vessels in British waters and previously imposed restrictions on hundreds of vessels associated with the Russian “shadow fleet”.

Recall that in early October, the United Kingdom already imposed new sanctions against vessels of the Russian “shadow fleet”.
