A man was detained in Odesa, who was transmitting the geo-location of ships’ moorings to the Russian Federation

A 22-year-old man from the Kherson region turned out to be an informant for the Russian military.

This is reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.

According to the investigation, the 22-year-old man collected and passed on intelligence to the Russian military during September-October 2024.

“Through the messenger, he transmitted about 30 messages regarding the placement of military facilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in various cities of Ukraine, telephone contacts of commanders of units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, addresses of the location of the TCC and TV towers,” the message reads.

In particular, he reported the geolocations of the mooring of civilian vessels in the port of Odesa.

Later, some of the “surrendered” objects were subjected to missile attacks by the aggressor country.

For performing enemy tasks, the suspect received a money transfer to his bank card from a representative of the Russian Federation.

It should be noted that the man was detained in Odesa and taken to Vinnytsia. He was remanded in custody without bail.

As previously reported by USM, Russian attacks on Ukrainian ports in October caused losses of $30-40 million.
