A new terminal for transshipment of grain and oil will be built in Pivdennyi
The Authority of the Pivdennyi seaport presented a project for the construction of a new terminal.
At the meeting of the Port Council, the project “Construction of the berthing and technological complex of Tehagro Company LLC” was presented, and it was included in the Development Plan of the Pivdennyi seaport.
The project provides for the construction of a terminal for the acceptance and transshipment of grain cargo in bulk from road and rail transport, as well as vegetable oil and sunflower seeds. The terminal will include complexes for handling grain and accepting vegetable oil, as well as an oil production plant.
According to the project, the designed volume of cargo turnover of the new terminal will amount to 2.7 million tons of grain and 200 thousand tons of vegetable oil per year. Sunflower seeds processing – up to 80 thousand tons per year. The total area of the site for construction is 29 hectares. The terminal will be built on the south-western bank of the Malyi Adzhalyk estuary.
The start of work is scheduled for 2022. The project will be completed within 44 months. The payback period of the project is 6 years.
The Port of Pivdennyi is implementing the Port Development Plan, approved in 2019. The main paragraphs of the plan are to increase the depth in the water area to 21 m (now the depth of the main berths is up to 18 m), as well as the reconstruction and construction of new terminals and berths. The port is planned to be modernized by 2029.
According to the USPA, grain handling in the port of Pivdennyi in January-July amounted to 3.84 million tons against 4.64 million tons in the same period last year. The volumes of oil transshipment in the port amounted to 547.5 thousand tons against 905.2 thousand tons in 2020.
