A ship with a humanitarian cargo of Ukrainian wheat has arrived in Somalia

The ship Neva arrived in Somalia with a cargo of humanitarian wheat from Ukraine as part of the Grain from Ukraine program.

The Neva ship is the third in the framework of the humanitarian program. It delivered 25,000 tons of food wheat to the port of destination. This is part of humanitarian aid from Ukraine to Ethiopia and Somalia, which are on the brink of famine, the Ministry of Infrastructure reports.

The costs of cargo logistics were borne by the governments of Finland, France and Japan.

Bulk carrier Neva left the port of Odesa on December 9.

This is already the second batch of Ukrainian wheat for Somalia. In autumn, as part of the “grain initiative”, a ship with 28,500 tons of wheat left the “Pivdennyi” port.

The essence of the Grain from Ukraine program is the direct purchase of Ukrainian grain by partner countries and its transfer to countries experiencing a humanitarian crisis.

The program is implemented in partnership with the World Food Program under the auspices of the United Nations.
