British intelligence: the Russian Federation is preparing the port of Novorossiysk to protect ships

After the change of commander of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, the invaders significantly reduced the activity of ships in the Black Sea.

The Russians are trying to modernize the maintenance, logistics and weapons handling infrastructure at the port of Novorossiysk. The intelligence of Great Britain writes about this.

Probably, the occupiers are improving the port in order to support the new conditions for basing ships of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation for an indefinite period.

After the dismissal of the commander of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation in March 2024, the Russian fleet is the least active since the beginning of the war.

However, the Russian Navy continues to conduct training in Novorossiysk Bay. So, on April 1, the “Gryhorovych” class missile frigate conducted live firing in the port.

Earlier, British intelligence stated that the Russians are trying to hide the base of the Black Sea Fleet behind barges.

According to the Navy of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation has lost about a third of its shipssince the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine.
