China tripled its imports of Russian grain
Last month, China imported more than 141,000 tons of grain and flour from Russia, which tripled the same figure last year.
In May, China imported more than 141,000 tons of grain and flour worth $33 million from the Russian Federation — 2.9 times more than in May 2023, APK-Inform reports.
More than half of the grain purchased in May was barley (almost 80,000 tons worth $19 million), which is 3.5 times more than last May.
Also, China imported from Russia 28,000 tons of wheat and meslin (worth $7 million), 21,000 tons of oats (worth $4.8 million), 10,500 tons of flour (worth $3.4 million), as well as 1, 9,000 tons of groats and coarse flour ($511,000).
In general, according to the results of the first five months of the year, the import of Russian grain to the People’s Republic of China increased 4.6 times, compared to the figure of January-May 2023 — to 653 thousand tons ($159 million). In total, during the specified period, China imported from the Russian Federation 377,000 tons of barley, 125,000 tons of wheat and meslin, 103,000 tons of oats, 32,000 tons of flour, and 17,000 tons of groats and coarse flour.
