Feasibility study for ferry complex in the port of Chornomorsk is undergoing approval

The Ministry of Development and the EBRD discussed the implementation of the concession project in the port of Chornomorsk at a conference in Warsaw.

The focus of the conversation was on the main nuances of the concession project and other areas of cooperation, the press service of the Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine reported.

The EBRD was one of the two main partners of the Ministry of Development in preparing the project for the port of Chornomorsk.

First Deputy Minister Alyona Shkrum said that currently the feasibility study (FES) for the ferry complex in the port of Chornomorsk, which was prepared with the support of the EBRD, is undergoing internal approval.

“Before that, it passed the internal approval procedure and received a positive conclusion from the Ministry of Economy. After that, our ministry approved the feasibility of implementing the concession. The implementation of this project will undoubtedly help strengthen Ukraine’s position in global logistics,” —— noted Alyona Shkrum.

The port concession is scheduled for 40 years and will cover two terminals: container and universal, with a potential of up to 760 thousand TEU and over 5 million tons of cargo annually.

“The concession projects in Chornomorsk have a chance to become one of the first competitions of this type after the start of the full-scale war with Russia. They may interest a leading international investor in the port sector and become one of the first success stories, which will be an important signal for the market,” —— added Deputy Minister Andriy Kashuba.

We will remind, in early April it became known that a feasibility study had already been agreed on the concession of a container terminal in the port of Chornomorsk.
