Freight rates for the transportation of grain from Ukrainian ports have increased


Freight rates have increased in the segments of “coaster” from the Danube and “panamax” from the ports of Great Odesa.

As of March 21, the freight for the transportation of corn by “Panamax” from deep-sea ports to China increased by 2 USD/t for the week — to 62-64 USD/t. UGA writes about this with reference to Atria Brokers.

Rates for the transportation of 6,000 tons of corn by “coasters” from the ports of Reni and Ismail in the direction of Marmara (Turkey) and the ports of Spain increased by 1 USD/t — to 27-28 USD/t and 45-46 USD/t, respectively. Rates to the east coast of Italy increased by 2 USD/t for the week — to 40-42 USD/t.

Rates for the transportation of grain to the eastern Mediterranean remained unchanged at the level of 35-37 USD/t.

Also, bids for the transportation of corn by “handysizes” from deep-sea ports in key directions remained at the previous level. So, transportation to the Mediterranean coast of Egypt is estimated at 30-32 USD/t, to Italy — 32-33 USD/t, to Spain — 34-35 USD/t, to Tunisia — 36-38 USD/t.

Freight rates for the transportation of corn by barge to Constanta decreased by 1-2 EUR per week — to 11 EUR/t. For sunflower, rates for transporting grain to the Bulgarian ports of Ruse and Silistra remained stable at EUR 17/t.

Previously, USM wrote that grain prices in Ukrainian ports have strengthened above $150.
