Grain corridor without the Russian Federation: Ukraine is waiting for Turkey’s response

Ukraine submitted to Turkey a proposal to resume the work of the Grain Corridor in the Black Sea without Russia.

“The proposal to work without Russia has been forwarded to the Turkish side. There is no final confirmation yet. But since the ships are already sailing through the territorial waters of Romania, Bulgaria, as well as Turkey, and pass through the straits without restrictions, this is actually a rational way,” said Ambassador of Ukraine to Turkey Vasyl Bodnar during a briefing at the Ukraine-Ukrinform Media Center.

According to him, within the framework of the Black Sea Grain Initiative, there were often cases when a terrorist country restricted the passage of ships to Ukraine or tried to regulate access to one or another Ukrainian port.

In addition, the list of products that could be exported from the territory of Ukraine was limited.

The ambassador also emphasized that since there are no export restrictions on Ukrainian products for ships passing through this humanitarian corridor, such an alternative option may be one of the main ones to resolve the situation.

Currently, Turkey and the UN are trying to reach an agreed position based on the results of negotiations with Ukraine and Russia. The participants of the negotiation process expect “communication between Ukraine and Turkey at the highest level.”

According to the ambassador, they may take place in the coming days or within the framework of the UN General Assembly.

As previously reported by USM, another session of the UN General Assembly will be held in the second half of September. At it, Ukraine will discuss the involvement of new countries in the implementation of the Peace Formula and the export of Ukrainian grain to world markets.
