Moscow puts forward additional demands for silence on the Black Sea — Zelenskyy

The President of Ukraine noted that Moscow seeks to introduce additional requirements for a ceasefire, although Kyiv is ready for unconditional silence.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that the Russian Federation is trying to introduce additional conditions for silence in the Black Sea, while Ukraine is ready for a ceasefire without any preconditions. This is reported by Ukrinform.

“Our delegations, from Ukraine and America, recently discussed options for a ceasefire in the energy sector and on the Black Sea. Technical issues remain, in particular, regarding monitoring. Regarding the Black Sea, the situation is becoming more complicated, because Moscow is trying to add new conditions to an agreement that does not provide for any conditions. We hope that the US will ensure the unconditional nature of silence at sea,” Zelensky noted.

He also emphasized that since March 11, the American side has had a proposal on the table for an unconditional ceasefire on all fronts, including the sky and the sea.

“However, Russia rejects this proposal. This is a clear signal that the Kremlin seeks to continue the war and prolong it,” the President added.

Zelensky stressed that international pressure on Russia must continue until the war is over.

“Now is not the time to reduce pressure on Russia or weaken our unity for the sake of pseudo-peace. We need more decisive joint steps to ensure a just and lasting peace. Sanctions against Russia must remain in force and be strengthened as long as the Russian occupation continues,” he concluded.

It was previously reported that during the meeting in Riyadh between Ukraine and the United States, five key results were achieved, including ensuring safe shipping in the Black Sea, a ban on strikes on energy facilities in the Russian Federation and Ukraine, as well as further work on the exchange of prisoners of war and the return of children abducted by Russia.
