National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine took up the development of another maritime strategy

The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine has begun developing a Maritime Security Strategy.

The kick-off meeting on the development of the Strategy took place on Thursday, September 9th, the NSDC reports on its Facebook page.

“Ukraine’s maritime security should be based on the principles of internal integration and international cooperation. In particular, the maritime security of Ukraine should be considered in the context of the security of the Baltic-Black Sea region and international maritime security. Aggressive actions of the Russian Federation in the Black and Azov Seas pose a threat not only to our security,” the NSDC said.

It is also reported that when developing a strategy, special attention will be paid to the “military component”.

Recall that on September 8th, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, by his decree, put into effect the secret decision of the National Security and Defense Council “On the development of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine until 2031”.
