Navy: it is possible to protect the beaches of Odesa Region from drifting mines

It is possible to protect the beaches of the Odesa region from drifting mines.

This opinion was shared by the spokesman of the Naval Forces of Ukraine Dmytro Pletenchuk, writes Ukrinform. The spokesman noted that the water area of the beaches is “not so large” and it is quite possible to trawl it.

“There is a mobile demining group, which already has hundreds of demining operations to its credit. These are both ammunition and mines that were washed ashore in the surf zone,” Pletenchuk said.

According to him, after the minesweeper passes through the coastal water area, it is necessary to set up a special boom fence and nets so that potentially explosive objects do not reach the already checked coastal zone.

Earlier, Oleg Kiper, the head of Odesa Odesa Regional Military Administration, signed an order to prepare access to the beach.
