Russia destroyed or damaged 385 port infrastructure facilities in Ukraine

In total, since the beginning of the full-scale war, Russia has damaged or destroyed 385 port infrastructure facilities in Ukraine.
This was stated by representatives of the USPA during the visit to Odesa of the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Arseniy Dominguez.
In Odessa, Dominguez met with the Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine Andriy Kashuba and the Head of the State Enterprise “USPA” Oleksandr Semirga.
As part of the visit, the delegation inspected the Odessa Marine Terminal, which suffered serious damage as a result of Russian attacks. In total, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia has damaged or destroyed 385 port infrastructure facilities, which significantly complicates the stable operation of Ukrainian ports.
Oleksandr Semirga focused on key areas of development of the port industry, including the restoration and modernization of infrastructure, the development of container transportation, the implementation of concession projects, as well as the renewal of the fleet, since 61% of vessels were built before 1993.
IMO plays a key role in ensuring the smooth flow of world trade and regulating merchant shipping. In 2024, thanks to the organization’s support, Ukraine achieved the exclusion of the Russian Federation from the IMO Council due to systematic violations of international norms and attacks on Ukrainian port infrastructure. This became an important signal to the international community regarding Russia’s responsibility for the destabilization of maritime transport.
IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez confirmed support for Ukraine and its port industry, in particular regarding the implementation of the Single Maritime Window in Ukraine in accordance with the FAL Convention.
USM previously reported that since the start of the full-scale war, Russia has damaged 33 ships in Ukraine as a result of attacks on ports, three of which were destroyed.
