Russian cargo ship sinks in the Sea of Azov

The Russian dry cargo ship “Pavel Grabovskyi” is sinking in the Sea of Azov.
The Panamanian-flagged ship, loaded with 3,000 tons of corn, left Rostov and was heading to Samsun, Turkey, reports “Krymskyi Veter”.
But on February 16, near the port of Azov, the ship’s bottom suffered a hole.
The sailors did not send a distress signal, but only requested permission to enter Azov in order to repair the ship. This will be possible after the water level on the Azov coast is higher: due to the large draft, the dry cargo ship may run aground.
So far, the icebreakers “Captain Demidov” and “Captain Chudinov” have come to the aid of the ship.
The monitoring group “Krymsky Veter” reports that the tugboat “Georgy Sedov” is currently next to the dry cargo ship. The distance from the shore is 10 km.
Meanwhile, the press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry’s Main Directorate for the Rostov Region says that the ship is in the roadstead and is not sending any distress signals. Earlier, USM reported that three tankers that entered Russian ports over the past month were damaged by explosions.
