Russian vessels will soon be unable to leave ports

Lloyd’s Register Voyage Rus refused to sell and renew all of its products and services in the Russian Federation.

Most Russian vessels use C-MAP electronic navigation charts. According to BlackSeaNews, until recently these cards were supplied by Lloyd’s Register Voyage Rus, whose Russian office is registered in St. Petersburg.

On March 9th, this company officially notified its Russian customers that it would stop selling and updating all of its products and services. The reason is the war unleashed by Russia in Ukraine.

Without such cards, the Port Inspectorate will not let the vessel sail. This can happen both on the Russian side and outside the Russian Federation.

The termination of the license for cartographic products may occur during the carriage of goods. And, if the crew does not have an alternative replacement, this will affect the safety of the vessel.
