The EU spokesman called on the Russian Federation to return to the Black Sea Grain Initiative

The European Union calls on Russia to return to the Grain Agreement and end the blockade of Ukrainian ports.

“We expect that Russia will at least return to the Black Sea Grain Initiative. The main expectation is that Russia will stop its criminal aggression against Ukraine, part of which is the blockade of the Black Sea, and will stop attacks, especially on Ukrainian grain exports,” said Peter Stano, EU foreign and security policy spokesman.

As Ukrinform writes, the politician recalled that Russia is carrying out attacks on objects intended for the export of Ukrainian grain, including those in the Danube region.

“Russia’s actions are further fueling global food prices and the global food crisis, putting millions of vulnerable people around the world at risk. When Russia pulled out of the Black Sea Grain Initiative in July, it cut off the most reliable way to export Ukrainian wheat and grain to the world market. By attacking the port infrastructure right now, they are attacking alternative ways of exporting Ukrainian grain from Ukraine – namely, the “corridors of solidarity”. Such actions are not acceptable,” the EU spokesman emphasized.

He noted that such attacks only emphasize the barbaric nature of Russian actions. At the same time, according to him, by blocking Ukrainian exports, Russia receives huge profits, as it provokes an increase in world prices for grain, and at the same time increases its own grain exports.

“Such actions show that all talk about the EU being an obstacle to Russian exports is disinformation, manipulation and lies. We call on Russia, on the one hand, to rejoin the Black Sea Grain Initiative, and on the other hand, to stop its criminal aggression and military blockade of the Black Sea,” Stano said.
