The European Parliament called on the EU to take immediate measures to free the hostages captured by the Houthis during the attack on the ship in the Red Sea.

The European Parliament called on the European Union to take immediate measures to release the hostages captured by the Yemeni Houthis during the attack on the Japanese ship Galaxy Leader, Ukrinform reports.

This is stated in the resolution of the European Parliament regarding Iran’s unprecedented attack against Israel, adopted on Thursday, April 25, during a meeting in Strasbourg.

“The European Parliament … calls on the EU and its Member States to step up and intensify efforts to ensure the safe and immediate release of all hostages taken (on board) the Galaxy Leader, including two citizens of Bulgaria, one of Romania and three of Ukraine, who held by the Houthis since November 19, 2023; calls on the EU High Representative and Member States to step up diplomatic efforts in this context and engage all relevant parties to ensure the safe return of captured Europeans without further delay,” the resolution reads.
