The first self-propelled vessel of the UDS under modernization is being prepared for launch
At the Kilia Shipbuilding and Repair Plant, the hull of the motor ship “Captain Antipov” was repaired.
On the first self-propelled vessel, the hull, holds, covers were also repainted, the press service of the Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company reported.
“Everything has been restored, except for the engines — the propeller-steering system, mechanisms, pumps. We plan to replace the main and auxiliary engines at the Austrian shipyard ÖSWAG. The start of work is planned for April this year. The engines have already been contracted,” the UDS noted.

“Captain Antipov” is a pilot project financed by the UDS from its own profits. In the future, the UDS plans to modernize 4 more “self-propelled vehicles” in turn, which need much more repairs than “Captain Antipov”.
The next stages of the program will be implemented with the involvement of funding from international partners.
As previously reported by USM, in December 2023, the UDS together with ÖSWAG partners completed the development of the modernization project for self-propelled vessels of the “Captain Antipov” type.
