The Russian ship “got lost” near Alaska

The US Coast Guard spotted a Russian Navy ship near Alaska.

The US Coast Guard cutter Alex Haley encountered a Russian ship during a routine patrol around the Aleutian Islands. The Associated Press writes about it.

Formally, the ship of the Russian Federation was maneuvering in international waters. However, the Russians “lost their way” within the exclusive economic zone of the United States — about 48 km southeast of the Amukta Pass.

The Russian ship also spotted a helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Force Base Kodiak.

The crew of the Alex Haley did not make contact with the Russian ship, but followed it as it moved east.

It will be recalled that in July, the US Coast Guard spotted four Chinese ships north of the Amchitka Pass in the Aleutian Islands during a patrol. PRC ships also passed through the exclusive economic zone of the United States.

Previously, the USM reported that Canada would increase its military presence in the Arctic. The Canadian government named China and Russia as the source of future threats.
