The volumes of grain transportation in Ukraine fell to a minimum for almost six months

The volumes of transportation of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” decreased to a minimum in the last five months.

In April, grain shipments fell to a five-month low. This was discussed during the meeting of representatives of the UZ and the agricultural market on April 20, reports Rail.insider. Rail.insider.

According to Valery Tkachev, Deputy Director of the Department of Commercial Work of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, since the beginning of the month, 1.53 million tons of grain have been transported by rail for export. 1.15 million tons were transported to the ports, and 380 thousand tons to the western border crossings.

“This is lower than last month and lower than the last almost five months. If this trend continues, we will export less than 2.5 million tons per month. In the best months, we transported 3.2 and 3.4 million tons. That is, we see that there is a significant decrease in transportation due to problems at the border and with the “grain corridor”, – said the representative of “Ukrzaliznytsia”.

Also, the volume of agricultural products was reduced to 1.45 million tons (almost 22% of the total volume). The average daily load is currently 77,000 tons.

In addition, a reduction in the transfer of wagons with grain cargo across the border is recorded. At the beginning of April, this indicator reached 590 units of rolling stock, now – 374 wagons (-37%). However, this month it was possible to reduce the number of wagons with agricultural goods awaiting transfer through the western border crossings.
