Despite the recent attacks by the Russian Federation on the ports of Great Odesa, there is currently no sharp increase in demand for transportation on the Danube.
This was reported by Avalon Shipping Operations Manager Kateryna Kononenko.
According to her, shipowners are not in a hurry to transfer cargo to Ukrainian Danube ports yet. Instead, they are monitoring the development of the situation and assessing possible options for work.
At the same time, the market has seen an increase in inquiries from companies that have not previously worked in this direction. They are interested in the current situation and freight rates.
The expert also noted that the waiting time for passage through the Sulina Canal is currently one to two days. If a vessel arrives at the roadstead by 5:00 p.m. and there is a free place, it can be taken through the canal on the same day.
