UDS stevedoring complex earned over 140 million in two years
Currently, the stevedoring complex, which operated on the territory of the Kiliya Plant and brought UAH 69.4 million to the state budget, is in storage.
UDS received the results of an examination related to the activities of the stevedoring complex that operated on the territory of the Kiliya Plant (KSSRZ) during 2022-2023, the company reported.
Deputy General Director of UDS Vladyslav Belakh said that in 2022 there was a deficit in grain transshipment on the Danube. Then the shipping company joined the development of the Danube logistics infrastructure.
“On the territory of the Kiliya Plant, UDS had a site with an old berth, which had not been used for many years. We restored the passport depths, invested in equipment. In two years, the stevedoring complex earned UAH 141 million for the company. Four times more than the amount of capital investments (UAH 34.5 million). We were finally able to plan shipments, rather than waiting in line at the port. Thanks to Kilia, we operated the fleet more efficiently, accumulated large batches of agricultural products, and loaded large sea vessels in Constanta,” Vladislav Belakh noted.
In particular, thanks to the work of the stevedoring complex in Kilia, UAH 69.4 million was received by the state budget.
The UDP emphasizes that the grain transshipment process was transparent and that the company conscientiously paid taxes on the services provided to exporters.
“The expertise proved the obvious – the project turned out to be very profitable for both the state and the enterprise. We worked at market rates, taking into account the fact that Kilia can only be reached by road, which increases transportation costs compared to, for example, the port of Izmail, where there is a railway connection. Currently, the project is on hold, but all the equipment is in working order, although we can resume operations tomorrow – everything has been preserved down to the last detail,” Vladislav Belakh explained.
As previously reported by USM, the UDS explained what is preventing the company from finally breaking even. In particular, the shipping company summed up the results of 2024 and shared its anti-crisis strategy.
