Ukraine and Poland signed a security agreement: what does it mean for the maritime industry

Kyiv and Warsaw signed a security agreement, which also provides for cooperation in the maritime sphere.

This is stated in the text of the agreement, which was published on the website of the President of Ukraine.

On Monday, July 8, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Poland Donald Tusk signed a security agreement in Warsaw.

In particular, the agreement provides for cooperation between the countries in the field of maritime security.

Participants will strive to coordinate their efforts in strengthening international cooperation in the field of maritime security in accordance with the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and other international legal documents.

Thus, Ukraine and Poland will work on options to support Ukraine in strengthening security in the Black Sea region.

At the same time, the countries will work out the possibilities of their contribution to the development of Ukraine’s maritime potential on a bilateral basis and through cooperation with allies and partners.

“The development of Ukraine’s naval fleet can be achieved through capacity-building efforts, industrial production, training efforts, as well as financial assistance,” the agreement states.
