Ukraine exported 86% of agricultural products through the ports of the Odesa region since the beginning of the year

The main volumes of Ukrainian agricultural exports in January 2025 passed through the Danube and Odessa ports thanks to the operation of the grain corridor.

In January 2025, 86% of Ukrainian agricultural products were exported through the ports of the Danube and Great Odesa. This was reported by the Minister of Agricultural Policy Vitalii Koval, Ukrinform writes.

“The functioning of the Ukrainian grain corridor made it possible to ensure the transportation of 86% of our agricultural products precisely through the Danube and Odesa ports. This means that Ukrainian goods continue to arrive even in the most remote countries of the world. This is also the result of support from the European Union,” the minister emphasized.

The agricultural sector remains a key element of the country’s economy. In particular, 11% of GDP is provided by agricultural producers, another 4% by agro-processors. According to the minister, Ukraine needs to maintain a stable trade regime with the EU in order to maintain the economic sustainability of the industry. At the same time, in 2025, the share of agricultural exports to the European Union decreased to 52%, while in 2023 this figure reached 70%.

Koval also noted that currently more than 200 thousand Ukrainian farmers serve in the Armed Forces.

“Ukraine is working on diversifying export routes, but it is critically important for us to ensure a stable transition period and develop an effective mechanism for our farmers to maintain production capacity. This is fundamentally important for the country’s economy,” Koval explained.

USM recently reported that from 60 to 70% of all Ukrainian agricultural products are exported.
