Ukraine may limit sea fuel deliveries from Georgia and Romania

The Energy Customs Service of the State Customs Service may limit import deliveries of fuel by sea from the ports of Romania and Georgia.

Thus, deliveries of oil products by barges from Romanian ports may come under increased customs control, enkorr reports with reference to sources.

According to the head of the logistics division of one of the major importers of oil products, consignments arriving by sea from Georgian and Romanian ports will come under increased control with fuel checks. At the same time, the import of fuel from Romania by trucks and railways will not be subject to the new sanctions.

Last year, the customs introduced the requirements of increased control over petroleum products of Turkey, which is the world’s largest importer of diesel fuel from Russia. Similar measures were later applied to imports from Moldova and Bulgaria. The ports of these countries received tankers with fuel of Russian, Turkish, and unknown origin. This led to the virtual cessation of imports from these countries.

A source in the State Customs Service informed enkorr that since June 10, shipments arriving in Ukraine by sea from the ports of Constanta and Batumi have been subjected to laboratory tests. According to the SBU, Russian diesel can reach Ukraine through these channels.
