Ukrainian naval drone exploded in the port of Constanta — Russia knocked it off course with electronic warfare means

Romanian President Nicos Dan confirmed the explosion and called the incident a direct consequence of Russian aggression.

On the morning of June 5, a naval drone exploded in the port of Constanta near the oil terminal – at the 78th berth near the building of the Romanian maritime rescue service, writes Kyiv Post.

The Ukrainian Navy confirmed that during a combat operation in the Black Sea, one of the unmanned surface vehicles came under the influence of Russian electronic warfare equipment, lost control and drifted towards the Romanian coast.

The Ukrainian side transmitted information to the Romanian Navy in advance. This allowed the dangerous area to be evacuated before the explosion.

Romanian President Nicos Dan emphasized that the drone’s entry into the sovereign territory of Romania is a direct consequence of the war that Russia unleashed against Ukraine. A total of four drones went out of control: in addition to the one that exploded in the port, another one self-destructed under the supervision of the coast guard near Constanta, and two more about 145 km east of the city. About 1,100 people were evacuated from beaches along the coast.

This is the third serious incident on the Romanian coast in recent weeks. A week earlier, a Russian drone carrying explosives crashed into a residential building in Galați, injuring two people, and the Romanian Navy detonated a Russian anti-landing mine that had washed up on the shore.
