Ukraine proposes to make the Grain Agreement open-ended
The President of Ukraine stated at the G20 summit that the Black Sea Grain Initiative deserves an indefinite extension. The agreement is also planned to be extended to Mykolaiv ports.
Ukraine is able to increase exports through the “grain corridor” by another million tons every month. This was stated by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the G20 summit. For this purpose, the head of state proposes to expand the grain initiative to the Mykolaiv and Olvia ports.
“I believe that our export grain initiative deserves to be extended indefinitely – regardless of when the war ends. The right to food is a fundamental right of every person in the world. Since July, Ukraine has exported more than 10 million tons of food by sea,” emphasized Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
He also called on all G-19 leader countries to join the recently launched “Grain From Ukraine” initiative. According to him, the first Nord Vind ship with 27,000 tons of wheat on board is leaving for Ethiopia. This year, Ukraine can export 45 million tons of food.
As USM previously reported, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said it would be the right decision for all parties to extend the Grain Agreement , which expires on November 19.
