Ukrainian maritime community proposes to simplify the certification procedure for seafarers
Representatives of the maritime community have appealed to the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine to simplify the certification procedure for seafarers.
This was reported by the Ukrainian Seafarers Union (USU).
The appeal was also joined by Club UA and the Trade Union of Seafarers “Ukrainian Sea Officers”. The organizations call for attention to the problems of certifying seafarers and the difficulties of conducting the Unified State Qualification Examination (USQE) under martial law.
“In our appeal, we emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards of education and certification of seafarers, which are an important source of economic revenue for Ukraine. Due to the destruction of the infrastructure of educational institutions, the difficult security situation, and the need for many seafarers to work abroad, participation in examination procedures is becoming increasingly difficult,” the message says.
The government is proposed to consider the possibility of simplifying certification procedures by using alternative forms of qualification testing, as was provided for by previous government resolutions during wartime.
The USU emphasized that this will ensure safe and accessible certification conditions for sailors.
