Under-sanctioned Russian tankers resumed work

Half a million tons of Russian oil are headed to buyers on vessels that are under sanctions of the Western coalition.

Six sanctioned Russian tankers have resumed or are resuming transportation. They serve the supply of the main Russian grade Urals from western Russian ports to Asia, writes mind.

Thus, the sanctioned Suezmax tankers Belgorod and Bratsk are delivering oil cargoes for the second time after loading in Novorossiysk in the first half of August 2024.

Both tankers have a deadweight of approximately 156,000 tons. Belgorod departed on August 8, Bratsk on August 14. Both passed through the Suez Canal, and the final destinations of the ships are not identified in marine trackers.

It will be recalled that the US Ministry of Finance placed both tankers on the sanctions list on February 23, 2024. Then the department introduced sanctions against the state shipping company “Sovcomflot” and immediately 14 oil tankers of the carrier.

Also resumed operations: aframax tanker “Liberty”, “Nevskiy Prospect”, “Viktor Bakaev” and “Galaxy”, formerly “Korolev Prospect”.

Earlier we reported that the US imposed sanctions on tankers transporting Iranian oil.
