Romanian farmers protest again over Ukrainian grain
Farmers threaten new protests if the authorities do not ban the transit and import of grain from Ukraine.
Romanian farmers demand to ban the transit and import of agricultural products from Ukraine in the period from June 15, 2023 to March 15, 2024. This was reported by the Romanian publication Avedarul.
Protesters claim that due to the influx of grain from Ukraine, most agricultural producers will be forced to close their farms. So, in order to compete with Ukrainian grain, farmers will have to sell grain at prices much lower than the cost price.
Farmers also emphasize that the amount of 10 million euros allocated to Romania by the European Commission is not enough to mitigate the losses of the country’s agricultural sector.
