The fate of the “Grain Agreement” may depend on the elections in Turkey
The Black Sea Grain Initiative is currently not working due to the blockade of inspections by the Russians. Elections in Turkey may also affect the further development of events.
“In fact, the “grain corridor” stopped working. If Erdogan is elected in Turkey today, most likely, after some time, Turkey will again demand a continuation with an incomprehensible result”, – shared the opinion Andriy Klymenko , head of the Monitoring Group of the Institute of Black Sea Strategic Studies.
According to him, if Kylichdaroglu is elected, the “Grain Agreement” will continue until the formation of a new government, but further decisions of the new government remain in question.
The expert advises to build an export policy taking into account this certainty or uncertainty.
Currently, according to the results of the counting of 98.82% of the votes, in the presidential elections of Turkey, Erdogan gains 49.35%, and Kilicdaroglu – 45%.
As previously reported by USM, the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, announced the beginning of the flow of gas from the Black Sea deposits into the country’s energy system. He promised to provide households with free blue fuel ahead of the election.
