A new transshipment point for Ukrainian grain will be opened on the border with Slovakia

On the Ukrainian-Slovak border, they plan to open a new grain transshipment point on European tracks.

The Slovak company EP Cargo proposes to create a new transshipment point between the broad and standard gauge railway on the Slovakian-Ukrainian border. For this, they will use the access track of the Voyanska power plant, writes Rail Market.

Thus, grain in broad-gauge wagons from Ukraine can now be transported to Voyan and directly reloaded into standard-gauge wagons. In the future, the grain will be sent to Polish, German or Adriatic ports.

EP Cargo, EPH is the majority shareholder of the Slovak electricity producer Slovenské elektrárne. In particular, the company owns a thermal power plant in Vojany in the east of Slovakia. For a long time, the power plant was fueled by coal from the Ukrainian Donbass. It was transported directly by the broad-gauge railway that runs through Voyani to the city of Košice.

Currently, the track capacity is significantly greater than EP Cargo has engaged in work. With this in mind, the company offers transshipment services for Ukrainian agricultural products.
