UGA raised the forecast for the export of grain and oil crops

In the new season, the export of Ukrainian agricultural products can reach almost 49 million tons.

“Exports from Ukraine in the new 2023/24 season can potentially amount to almost 49 million tons. In the last season (which ended on June 30, 2023), according to UGA, exports reached 58 million tons,” the Ukrainian Grain Association reports.

At the beginning of August, the export forecast was 48 million tons.

The potential export of wheat in 2023/24 MR may amount to about 16 million tons, taking into account the fact that at the beginning of the season, transitional balances amounted to 4.4 million tons.

The forecast for the export of Ukrainian barley is about 3 million tons, corn – at the level of 22 million tons.

The potential export of sunflower can amount to 0.5 million tons, rapeseed – 4 million tons, soybean – 3.3 million tons.

At the same time, UGA emphasized that such volumes are possible only if they are shipped through Black Sea ports. It is also necessary to improve and reduce the cost of the logistics of alternative routes, including the Danube route.

“UGA continues to work with the European Commission regarding compensation to European carriers for transporting Ukrainian grain from the border to European ports. This will allow Ukrainian manufacturers to save a part of the price, which they are now forced to spend on significantly more expensive logistics,” the association emphasized.

The problem of increasing the capacity of the Sulina Channel on the Danube is also being solved through the introduction of 24-hour operation of the canal and an increase in the number of pilots.

In particular, work is underway together with the USA and the EU to create anchorages in Romanian territorial waters for transshipment of Ukrainian grain from barges to larger Handysize and Panamax vessels, which will make logistics across the Danube more efficient.
