Croatia will not import Ukrainian grain

Croatia has announced that it will not buy grain from Ukraine. At the same time, agricultural products will continue to pass through the territory of Croatia for sale to other countries.

Prime Minister of Croatia Andrej Plenkovich said that his country will not import grain from Ukraine. At the same time, the state will not implement a ban on such imports following the example of Poland, Hungary and Slovakia, reports Politico.

“Croatia’s position is that we are a transit country, not a country that receives huge volumes of Ukrainian grain, which is cheaper than ours. This would mean that our farmers are in trouble,” Plenkovich commented.

The politician assured that Croatian ports currently facilitate the transportation of Ukrainian grain to third countries. It will be recalled that Croatia offered Ukraine to use its sea ports after Russia withdrew from the Grain Agreement.

It is not known how much grain was exported through Croatian ports, but this route is “already quite popular”, emphasized the Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Yulia Svyridenko.

Previously, USM wrote that more and more agro-traders are resuming grain exports through Croatian ports.
