A Russian trawler caught fire during repairs

In Kaliningrad, a Russian trawler caught fire during repair work.

During welding work on the trawler “Zakhar Sorokin” in the port of Kaliningrad, “smoke” occurred. Russian mass media write about it.

It is reported that a gas cylinder caught fire on the ship. 9 fire trucks were sent to the scene of the accident. Due to “smoke”, 87 crew members on board had to be evacuated.

Note that this is the second incident on the ship in the last 10 days. So, on January 17, during production work on the Zakhar Sorokin trawler, a Russian fell from an 8-meter height and fell into the hold.

Unexpected fires on Russian ships are not rare cases recently. In particular, this is facilitated by sanctions and the reorientation of production capacities to military rails.

USM recently wrote that a Russian container ship broke down in the Black Sea for the third time in 5 months. The ship’s engine failed on the way to Novorossiysk.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, so far unsuccessfully, is suing “Severnaya Verf” for the unfinished frigates. The first ship was to be built by October 25, 2022. However, the order was not fulfilled due to “lack of funding”.
