Ukrainian sailors diplomas will be recognized in Spain

The Shipping Administration has signed an agreement on mutual recognition of diplomas/ certificates of seafarers with Spain.

The information was shared by the head of the Shipping Administration Yevgenii Ignatenko. According to him, now Ukrainian sailors can get a Spanish confirmation of their diploma or specialist certificate.

“As part of a mutual commitment with the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Development of the Kingdom of Spain, employment on ships under the relevant flag is now possible under a simplified procedure in accordance with the STCW Convention,” said Yevgenii Ignatenko.

Also, the Shipping Administration added that the confirmation in Spain will certify that the seafarer’s qualification document is duly recognized and its legal owner has the right to hold the relevant position on board a ship flying the Spanish flag.

We previously reported that Ukrainian sailors have already received more than 2,000 service records by mail.

Also, as previously reported by USM, the Shipping Administration reported on the results of work in 2023 and plans for the next year. Yes, last year more than 20,000 crew members were graduated.
