Since July, North Korea has sent about 6,700 containers with millions of ammunition to Russia.

The Minister of Defense of South Korea, Shin Won-sik, said that there could be more than 3 million artillery shells in the containers, writes The Guardian.

Hundreds of North Korean munitions factories are operating at about 30% of capacity due to a lack of raw materials and electricity, he said, but factories that produce artillery shells for Russia are operating “at full capacity.”

The US State Department said in a report released on Friday that since September, North Korea has delivered more than 10,000 containers of ammunition or related materials to Russia.

As previously reported by USM, in December 2023, satellite images recorded the movement of containers from North Korea to the Russian Federation on cargo ships.
