A tugboat for the Black Sea Fleet was launched in Russia
A new rescue tugboat for the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation was launched in Russia.
The “Mikhail Chekov” rescue tugboat was launched at the Astrakhan Shipyard, “Militarnyi” reports.
These tugboats are built according to project 22870 by order of the Ministry of Defense of Russia.
The main tug of the SB-45 project was handed over to the Russian Navy in 2014. In total, this is the seventh vessel of project 22870 for the Astrakhan shipyard.
“SB-45” has the ability to support emergency ships afloat and perform complex diving operations at depths of up to 60 m.
Currently, only five vessels of this project perform search and rescue tasks. On June 7, 2022, it became known that the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed the tugboat “Rescuer Vasyl Bekh” in the waters of the Black Sea.
The tug “Mikhail Chekov” was laid down in March 2021. After completion of the test program, it will replenish the auxiliary forces of the Black Sea Fleet.
