Russia wants to create a fuel base for the Navy in the Red Sea
The Russians asked the Sudanese authorities for permission to create a fuel base for their troops in exchange for the supply of weapons and ammunition.
The Russians want to build a fuel base for their ships in Sudan. This was stated by the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Sudan, General Yasser al-Atta, Reuters writes.
For its part, the Kremlin promised to supply weapons and ammunition to the African country. Al-Atta announced the signing of an agreement in this regard – despite the fact that Russia is cooperating with the paramilitary Rapid Support Force (RSF), which is an opponent of the Sudanese army in the civil war.
The Russian Federation and Sudan signed an agreement on the creation of a Russian base in the Red Sea as early as 2023. However, due to the resistance of the command of the Sudanese army, the agreement did not enter into force.
