Ukraine is exporting sunflower oil for the first time as part of the Grain from Ukraine initiative

As part of the humanitarian food initiative Grain from Ukraine, about 2.5 thousand tons of oil were sent to African countries.

Ukraine will send more than 2,453 thousand tons of sunflower oil within Grain from Ukraine. This is reported by Elevatorist.

The cargo will go to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mozambique, Djibouti, Mauritania and Palestine. The shipment of humanitarian cargo is carried out by the Ministry of Agricultural Policy together with the UN World Food Program (WFP).

“We are fulfilling the mission of our country, ensuring food security in the world. And we are expanding humanitarian goods, as announced by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the second Grain from Ukraine summit. We supply not only grain, but also corn, peas, and now sunflower oil. This oil will be sent in containers from the ports of Great Odesa,” commented Deputy Minister of Agricultural Policy Markiyan Dmytrasevich.

In general, more than 200,000 tons of humanitarian agricultural products were sent as part of the Grain from Ukraine initiative. As of May 2024, the volume of shipments of humanitarian products to African and Asian countries from the Ukrainian manufacturer amounted to half a billion dollars.

Previously, USM already wrote that the Grain from Ukraine program can be extended to other types of food.
