Ukraine cooperates with Italy within the framework of the Twinning project to increase safety at sea
Ukraine started a visit to Italy within the framework of the EU Twinning project to strengthen the institutional capacity of the Shipping Administration.
The delegation of Ukraine started a visit to Italy within the framework of the EU Twinning project aimed at strengthening the institutional capacity of the Shipping Administration, the head of the department, Yevhenii Ignatenko, said.
On the first day of the visit, the Ukrainian representatives met with the captain of the port of Genoa and Admiral Piero Pellisari to discuss the activities of Ukrainian ports in wartime conditions. The delegation also got acquainted with the work of the Italian Coast Guard and visited the unit of the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center, where they studied Italy’s approaches to responding to emergency situations.
During the meetings, the Ukrainian and Italian sides agreed on the Twinning project implementation schedule. Together with the project partner Massimo Mosconi, the Ukrainian representatives signed the work plan and budget of the Grant contract, which will be valid until September 2025. The project includes improvement of national legislation, preparation for the audit of the International Maritime Organization and study of European standards in the maritime sector.
