Bilhorod-Dnister port plans to cooperate with the Turkish port of Trabzon

The delegation of the Bilhorod-Dnister sea trade port visited Trabzon port in Turkey. The parties discussed the prospects of cooperation.

The port has been under the management of Albayrak Grubu since 2003. During the meeting, the parties discussed the possibilities of cooperation after the resumption of ship calls to the Belgorod-Dniester port, said the director of the port, Oksana Kiktenko.

The Trabzon port is similar to the Belgorod-Dniester port in terms of technical characteristics: it covers 60 hectares of territory, has eight berths and more than 23,000 sq. m of covered warehouses. However, the water area of the Turkish port reaches a depth of 14 meters — this indicator became possible after the transfer of the port from state to private management.

Every year, Trabzon Port processes up to 10 million tons of cargo and accepts 2,500 ships, despite the lack of rail connections: all cargo is delivered by road and water transport. In addition, the port in Trabzon has twice been recognized as the best employer in Turkey, and also trains qualified personnel for five other ports managed by Albayrak Grubu.

Thanks to the modernization, which includes the construction of new 600-meter berths and the equipping of modern cargo equipment, Trabzon Port is today an important link on the logistics route of the modern “Silk Road” between Europe and Asia.

Earlier, USM reported that the new owner of the Bilhorod-Dniester port wants to restore the bridge destroyed by the Russians.
