Demand for Ukrainian sunflower is growing due to changes in export conditions

Demand for sunflower of Ukrainian origin may increase, in particular, due to Turkey’s decision to zero the duty on sunflower seed imports.

It is expected that demand for Ukrainian sunflower on export markets will increase in the near future. This is  повідомляє reported by APK-Inform.

The reason is Turkey’s decision to zero the duty on sunflower seed imports within the tariff quota from January 1 to April 30, 2025. Currently, the duty rate within the quota is 8%.

In addition, the market will be affected by changes in Ukraine. In particular, we are talking about the abolition of the licensing regime for sunflower seed exports. It will be replaced by a minimum price mechanism, with the exception of exports to Bulgaria and four other EU countries, where licensing will remain in effect.

Despite the slowdown in the fall in domestic sunflower prices last week, the export market for sunflower oil is still showing a decline. This is forcing processing companies to adjust purchase prices. As of the end of November, they varied within the range of 25,000–26,000 UAH/t on CPT terms.
