Nibulon does not rule out suspending grain transshipment through its own branch on the Danube

Nibulon may stop grain transshipment at its own terminal in Izmail due to loss of competitiveness on the Danube.

This was stated by the company’s director for interaction with government authorities, Mykhailo Rizak, reports Elevatorist.

According to him, grain transshipment via the Danube has decreased to 100 thousand tons per month, although the technical capabilities of the terminal allow processing up to 300 thousand tons.

“In the best months, we did 250 thousand tons per month via the Izmail terminal (Bessarabskaya branch, – ed. note). Today we are actually sliding down to 30 thousand tons, and in the near future, there may be a stop altogether, since together with the freight of ships in Constanta, as well as with shipping logistics, the Danube has lost its competitive advantage,” Rizak noted.

According to him, the Danube will lose cargo in the coming months if logistics are not radically changed and the competitiveness of this route from any Ukrainian elevator on CIF terms is ensured.

Earlier it became known that Nibulon suffered losses of more than $500 million.
